Functional Physical Therapy & Fitness is dedicated to restoring our patient's function back after an injury, surgery, or trauma. Learn more below about our company history, our dedicated team of physical therapists and employees, and what we do in our practice that makes us the premier functional rehabilitation and fitness clinic in Southern California.
Functional Physical Therapy & Fitness has served the San Gabriel Valley community since 2002. Our mission and passion are to help our patients restore their function. Though it may not always be pleasant to require physical therapy treatment, we make every attempt to make your process of healing as enjoyable as possible. Our highly-trained physical therapists and support team are committed to providing a customized rehabilitation program for each individual patient.
Our 3,100 square foot state-of-the-art facility is located in the beautiful foothills of Arcadia, California. Whether you are recovering from ACL knee surgery or experiencing cervical radiculopathy, our private treatment rooms and open gym layout are fully equipped to achieve recovery and return to optimal function.
Patients who have completed their physical therapy treatment are often offered an opportunity to participate in our individualized fitness training programs. This continuum of care is what sets our office apart from other clinics since our fitness trainers work closely with our physical therapists to design a strategy that is both safe and effective for our clients hoping to achieve a lifestyle of wellness.
The experienced team at Functional Physical Therapy & Fitness is committed to supporting our patient's goals to return to a pain-free life and regain their functional mobility. We are here to help you reduce your pain, correct your posture, and prevent future injury risk. Our expert therapists use the most current and up-to-date methods for treating our patients. We also strive to provide all our patients a safe, professional, caring, and friendly environment on their journey to recovery.
Frank Chow, PT, DPT, OCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Chow has had over 20 years of outpatient physical therapy experience. His clinical specialty is in the areas of orthopedic and sports physical therapy. In his practice, Dr. Chow works closely with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, sports medicine physicians, and sports coaches to develop and design treatment programs specific to his patients. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Southern California in 1996 and later received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Southern California in 2000. As an Orthopedic Certified Specialist, he is in a small fraternity of physical therapists (fewer than 5% of all PTs nationally) certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists in orthopedic physical therapy. When not treating patients, Dr. Chow enjoys watching college sports (go Trojans!) and participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding with his family.
Wayne Wu, PT, DPT, FRCms
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Dr. Wu received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2015 from San Diego State University. He then attended Touro University Nevada to obtain his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2019. In order to treat his patients with the utmost care, he obtained a certification in Functional Range Conditioning (FRCms) that utilizes a system to optimize mobility training for joint health. Dr. Wu has been able to work with collegiate and Olympic athletes at all stages of their rehabilitation process to return them back to their sport. He believes in an active, collaborative, and holistic approach to physical therapy, to make your rehabilitation treatments and goals individualized in order to get you back to doing what you love. His approach to physical therapy empowers patients to take control of their rehabilitation process to achieve their highest potential. When not in the clinic, he participates in powerlifting, loves off-roading, and being a Laker’s fan.
Kim, Liz, and Aileen
Our friendly support team has collective backgrounds, experiences, and training that plays an integral part of our office. With degrees in exercise science and backgrounds in fitness training, the team is well equipped to aid our physical therapists in the management of physical therapy patient care. Whether assisting in front office matters (such as scheduling, insurance verification, or new patient intake) or assisting the physical therapists in patient care, they are always accomodating, compassionate, empathetic, and caring to our patients.
My first visit to P/T Frank was able to really nail down some ancillary issues I had with a hip injury. He took his time and really made me think about my condition and what actually led to the injury. His "hands on" approach was beneficial in my road back to recovery. I highly recommend FPT for any of your rehabilitation needs.
